Netscape 4.5-4.7 - Mail

	SMTP Auth and SSL
	PowerNet Internet email may also be configured for SMTP Authentication and SSL encryption for outgoing email. Please note that SMTP Auth and SSL are optional and are not required to use PowerNet Internet email. For further information and setup instructions, see the links below. NOTE: Please configure SMTP Auth or SSL after first configuring your email program for your PowerNet Internet email. SMTP Authentication SSL Encryption (outgoing) SSL Encryption (incoming)

The pictures shown in these instructions were taken on a Windows based computer, but the content and instructions will be nearly identical for Macintosh users.

Open Netscape Communicator. Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences.

Click the Identity category under Mail & Newsgroups. You may need to click the plus (+) next to Mail & Newsgroups first.

• Enter your name in the Your name field. This is how it will appear when you send mail.
• Enter your email address in the Email address field.

Click the Mail Servers category on the left. Enter your PowerNet Internet mail server into the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field. Click here for the list of PowerNet Internet Mail servers.

Click the Add button:

• Enter your PowerNet Internet mail server into the Server Name field. Click here for the list of PowerNet Internet Mail servers.
• The Server Type should be set to POP3 Server.
• Enter your email username or PowerNet Internet email address in the format of username@PowerNet Internet.net in the User Name field in lowercase letters.
• Check the Remember password box if you would like your password to be saved.

Click OK to add the server information. Click OK to save your changes and return to Netscape Communicator.
